Distributed Waste-to-Carbon Infrastructure

Building and operating distributed waste-to-carbon infrastructure — Turning agricultural and forestry waste into carbon products and firm power

The Problem We Solve

Each year, the United States generates more than a billion tons of agricultural and forestry biomass — most of which rots, burns, or emits methane. It is an abundant domestic resource, treated as waste.

Our BioGrid™ systems convert that biomass into specification-grade outputs, each serving its own market:

  • Engineered biochar — a durable soil amendment for agriculture
  • Biocarbon — a renewable carbon input for industrial and metallurgical use
  • Activated carbon — domestic supply for water treatment, including PFAS remediation
  • Firm power — behind-the-meter baseload, delivered as energy costs rise

Each output meets a distinct, growing demand: regulated water-quality standards, industrial decarbonization, soil and crop economics, and reliable on-site power. One asset, one waste stream, four revenue-bearing products.

Waste is abundant. Carbon stays local. Deployed faster.

The BioGrid™ Solution — One Platform, Multiple Carbon Products

Engineered Biochar — High-carbon biochar for agriculture, soil amendment, and permanent carbon storage. Verified for 100+ year permanence.

Activated Carbon — Domestic, specification-grade AC for water treatment and PFAS remediation. Replacing imported coconut-shell carbon with American-made product from agricultural waste. ID1000 and ID1200 grades.

Clean Baseload Energy — Firm, dispatchable power delivered behind the meter under long-term PPAs. No grid interconnection queue. Deployable in months.

Carbon Removals —Durable carbon storage with registry-verified permanence (Puro.earth / Isometric protocols)

THE PROBLEM Agricultural and forestry waste accumulates walnut shells, almond shells, residual wood. California generates 1M+ tons of tree nut waste annually.

WITHOUT US It burns or decomposes Open burning → black carbon. Decomposition → methane. Both are superpollutants.

BIOGRID™ We intercept it. No combustion. Thermal conversion at source. Zero open burn. Zero hauling. Modular and repeatable.

THE OUTPUT Domestic high-spec carbon products. Engineered Biochar / Biocarbon / Activated Carbon.
AND Behind-the-meter firm power.

Current Projects

These projects will be the first commercial-scale deployment of BioEnergy’s distributed BioGrid model. Co-located at a waste source, the site integrates EXRGY™ BioReactors to convert forestry residues into renewable power, verified carbon removals, and biocarbon products.

The EXRGY Platform — In Commercial Operation Since 2022

Proven. Modular. Scalable.

The EXRGY BioReactor is a TRL-9, continuously operating thermal conversion system. Each unit processes up to 2 tons of biomass per hour. For activated carbon production, the EXRGY Activated Carbon Module (ACM) adds a precision activation step to produce high grade AC from agricultural and forestry  feedstocks.

Key Specifications:

• Throughput: 2 tons/hour (10,000–12,000 tons/year per unit)

• Power: 1 MW per unit (6,000–7,000 MWh/year)

 • Deployment: 6 months, containerized, minimal site prep

• Feedstock: Forestry residues, walnut/almond shells, agricultural byproducts

• Monitoring: Integrated dMRV for carbon accounting

How It Works

  • Feedstock Delivery
We secure long-term agreements for organic waste streams at the host site.

  • System Installation
BioEnergy installs and commissions the microgrid platform with minimal site preparation.

  • Power Production
Behind-the-meter PPAs ensure predictable and cost-competitive electricity for hosts.

  • Operations & Support
We operate and maintain the system — hosts benefit from dependable power without capital expenditure or operational burden

Outputs

  • Clean Baseload Energy
Reliable, dispatchable power tied to long-term contracts.

  • Durable Carbon Products
Biochar and biocarbon outputs that support soil health and carbon storage.

  • Verified Carbon Removals
Registry-aligned outputs that can generate enterprise-grade carbon credits (Puro.earth certification planned).

  • High-Value Industry uses

About Us

Who We Are

BioEnergy Development Inc. is a developer and operator of distributed waste-to-carbon infrastructure. We convert locally available agricultural and forestry waste into specification-grade carbon products, firm baseload power, and verified carbon removals. Our mission: deploy 1,000 EXRGY™ units across ~200 BioGrid™ microgrids, processing 10M+ tons of biomass annually, generating 6M MWh of clean power, and removing 15M tCO₂ per year. Deployment targets are anchored to contracted waste streams, not projections.
